About Robin Moore:
A man who has truly lived his dreams...

Since 1981, Robin has made his full-time living entirely from works of his own imagination, translated into the spoken and written word.

--He has told stories to more than a million children and presented more than 5,000 storytelling programs at schools in the Northeastern U.S. His historical and multicultural tales, which he accompanies with the flute, the hunting horn and the Celtic harp, have kindled the imaginations of generations of story listeners.
--He is author of more than a dozen award-winning books, published by HarperCollins, Random House and Simon& Schuster. Works include historical fiction, collections of folklore, mythology, science fiction, adaptations of classics and recorded books.
--He is owner of Groundhog Press, a small independent publishing company which produces his books and recordings celebrating the power of the spoken word.
--He holds a Master of Arts in Oral Traditions and serves on the faculty of The Oral Traditions Masters Program at the Graduate Institute at Mitchell College.
--He has received many awards, including PA School Librarians Association’s "Author of the Year" and Storytelling Magazine’s "National Storyteller of the Year."
--He has traveled to every continent on the Earth (except for Antarctica) searching for stories and adventure. Notable research trips took him to Eastern and Central Europe, Scandinavia, Italy, Greece and Turkey, British Columbia, Kenya and Tanzania, Japan, China, Indonesia, the Caribbean Islands, the Yucatan and Gulf of Mexico as well as the rivers and mountains of the Continental U.S., including his beloved home state of Pennsylvania.
--Before becoming a full-time author and storyteller, Robin served as a combat soldier in Vietnam, worked as a wilderness guide in New Mexico, earned a Journalism Degree from Pennsylvania State University and worked as a newspaper reporter and magazine editor.
--He grew up in the mountains of Central Pennsylvania, where his Scots-Irish ancestors have lived for more than 200 years. As a boy, he developed a life-long love of the woods and a fascination with stories. These twin interests have allowed him create a body of spoken and written work which is aimed at keeping the imagination alive in all of us, regardless of age.

Robin now lives on the shores of a 365-acre lake in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, surrounded by more than 1,200 acres of hardwood forest and meadows which are home to herds of White Tailed Deer, Red Foxes, Raccoons, Rabbits, Skunks, Red Tailed Hawks, Bald Eagles, Canada Geese, Great Blue Herons and a multitude of songbirds.

Robin is not the only creative one in his family. His parents, Robert and Jeanne Moore, have made their living for 25 years by handcrafting historically-accurate replicas of Native American and Early American clothing and artifacts for museums and private collectors all over the world. His wife, Emerald DuCoeur, makes her living as an Animal Communicator, for people and the animals they love. They have two dogs of their own, Sable and LaNeigh. His two grown children continue to amaze him with the fascinating paths they have chosen in life. His son, Jesse, graduated with a degree in Asian Studies from Temple University in Tokyo, Japan. His daughter, Rachel, earned a degree in Fine Arts from Goucher College in Baltimore.

Today, Robin has a busy schedule of storytelling performances, writing workshops, author appearances and graduate school teaching assignments which keep him on the road for 30,000 miles a year—making the quiet and beauty of their home in the woods all the more important.

His ambition for the future is to play a role in keeping the imagination alive through storytelling, story listening and story creating.
